The Books of Waiting (2014) is a conversation between the letters from Irma Paris, my mother, and my poetic responses—both in writing and movement—collapsing time and space. The work intends to make sense of our entangled emotions on the 'inapprehensible reality' of the political disappearance of Iván Daza, her husband and my father in Venezuela's 1960s Cold War-era Caribbean conflict.

At once playful yet stark, they make movement notes on complicated grief. From my background in dance and somatic practices—especially in Skinner Releasing Technique— I bear witness with my whole self to the impossible task of comprehending such a predicament.
